Let go of anxiety

The source of our anxiety lies within. So does the power to let it go.

“

Today I escaped from anxiety. Or no, I discarded it, because it was within me, in my own perceptions, not outside.

MARCUS AURELIUS

Marcus Aurelius wrote this during a plague, no less.

Often, we blame our stress and unease on outside pressures: work demands, deadlines, our busy schedules. But when those pressures ease, we come to a realisation. The constant factor is ourselves.

The source of our anxiety lies within. And it's within our power to let it go.

TRY THIS TODAY

Write down what's worrying you most right now. Next to it, note which part is outside you, and which part is your own perception of it.

A note on sources

Much of what I've learned about Stoicism comes from Ryan Holiday. Find more of his writing at dailystoic.com and ryanholiday.net.

While I have edited much of this content, there are some cases where I have taken Ryan Holiday's words directly. I've included them because I think they are powerful and will be helpful for you. They are also helpful for me, and I've put them here so I can learn and understand more myself.
